Generally, students have many issues and concerns during fieldwork period including fieldwork in psychiatric social work placement, national examination, job hunting, and preparation for graduation thesis. After clarifying the tasks and dilemma during field practicum, this article examines the safety-nets？ measures？ to help the students cope with their problems. First, it is important to empower students through consultation employing various means of communication such as portable phone and/or electronic mail. Second, volunteer experiences before fieldwork was found to be helpful for students to become familiar with mental hospitals or rehabilitation facilities as well as with patients. Finally, this article points out that it is crucial to systematize performance review meetings of students after fieldwork and consultation with field instructor, which can strengthen the relationship between the field instructor and field liaison in university.
