| 内容記述 | Self-help groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous （AA） and niche patient advocacy groups, have demonstrated the impact of community-driven support. However, issues, including financial instability, insular group dynamics,and narrative fixation, frequently hinder their long-term effectiveness. This study focused on various constraints and changes in welfare policies that Japan and Canada have in common and explored a new model for self-help groups. Using the case study of Beyond the Plate: Learning to Cook for One, a unique culinary grief therapy program at The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County in Ontario, Canada, this study introduces a fresh model for bereavement support. Beyond the Plate redefines bereavement support, demonstrating how the simple act of cooking can nurture both body and spirit. This novel model provides significant insights into how self-help groups can evolve to better meet the needs of bereaved individuals, while maintaining practical and profoundly human-centered healing. AA（Alcoholics Anonymous）のような自助組織や患者会は、これまでコミュニティ主導のひとつの支援として展開してきた。しかし経済的な理由による国家・行政支援の後退、閉鎖的なグループダイナミクス、そこで語られるナラティブの固定化などの問題は、しばしばそうした組織の長期的な展開や有効性を妨げている。本稿では日本とカナダがそれぞれ抱えている経済的制約や福祉政策の変化に着目し、自助組織の新たなモデルのありかたを探る。 本論文では、カナダのオンタリオ州にあるホスピス（The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County in Ontario）に展開するあるユニークな料理療法プログラム「ビヨンド・ザ・プレート」“Beyond the Plate” の事例に着目し、死別支援のありかたを考える。「ビヨンド・ザ・プレート」は、料理というシンプルな行為が体と精神の両方に効用をもたらすことから、そうした活動を取り入れることにより死別サポートを再定義しようとするものである。この新たなモデルは、自助組織が遺族のニーズをより適切に満たすために、どのように進歩していくことができるかを考えるきっかけとなる。そしてより実用的で、深く人間的な癒しを人びとに提供していくために有効な、ひとつの知見を提供する。 |
