| 内容記述 | 19世紀のアンテベラム期にニューイングランドにおいて生起した思潮である超越主義（Transcendentalism）は、1830年代半ばから1840年代半ばにかけて、宗教、文学、哲学および社会改革運動において影響力をもった。この思潮は、その呼称に含まれる「超越」（transcendental）という言葉との関連で、ドイツ超越論的観念論からの影響が指摘される。 伝統的に哲学では、感覚に基づく実在の定義と真理および実在の探求における思惟作用のいずれに力点を置くかによって、前者を唯物論、後者を唯心論として理論展開してきた経緯がある。 19世紀ニューイングランドにおける超越主義も、こうした哲学史の動向に影響されつつ、生起し展開してゆくのであるが、彼らの説く「唯心論」は、ドイツを中心としてヨーロッパで展開された観念論とは異なる発展をみせている。超越主義の自然観は、自然は人間精神の顕れであり、それは同時に神であるという、ある種の一元論である。こうした自然観は、認識において外界を精神の延長と捉える点で、ドイツ観念論的認識論的であるが、そうした外界＝精神と神とを直結させることにおいては、近代の認識論とは一線を画していたといえる。 本稿では、近代哲学思想という「大きな流れ」のなかで、思潮としての超越主義が持ち得た妙味を明らかにすることを企てる。その際に、超越主義思想のなかでも、教育という実践的領域において活躍したブロンソン・オルコット（Amos Bronson Alcott,1799-1888）の思想を採りあげることにより、哲学上、ニューイングランド超越主義の思想的特異性を明らかにすることを目的とする。 |

| 内容記述 | The principle of Transcendentalism in the 30s in the 19th century had influence in religion, literature, philosophy and a social reform. It has pointed out that German transcendental idealism has brought this thought influence, in connection with the word “transcendental,” included in the name. While the principle of transcendentalism in New England is influenced by a trend of such a history of philosophy in the 19th century, Transcendentalism shows different development from the idealism developed in Europe led by Germany. Idea about nature in the principle of transcendentalism that Nature is external expression of the human being mind, and it is God at the same time, is monism. At this point the principle of transcendentalism is different from German idealism philosophy. This report clarifies a characteristic of the principle of transcendence as the trend of thought in modern philosophy thought,and focusing on thought of transcendental educator Bronson Alcott. |
